Getting your child’s routine checkup should be easy, never difficult. During their initial appointment, we tend to spend more time having a conversation with parents on at-home oral care and keep the exam relatively brief, especially if they do not have many teeth to examine. With each visit, we intend to make comprehensive exams and detailed, yet gentle cleanings a normal part of your child’s oral care regimen. We may also discuss specific treatments we believe your child may benefit from.

Dental Sealants

Whether your child is struggling with tooth decay or you want to be extra proactive against cavities, dental sealants offer an effective solution to both concerns. Sealants are made up of a composite resin material that’s specifically designed to seal vulnerable teeth away from harmful bacteria, plaque and tartar. This solution lasts for up to 10 years, giving your child plenty of time to perfect their oral care routine and reduce the risk of cavities in their molars and premolars, two of the most commonly treated teeth.

Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride is quite commonly found in oral care products, but it’s also put into public drinking water and found naturally in the many foods we eat. At our dental office, we perform fluoride therapy for two main reasons. The first reason is to provide additional protection for teeth from cavity-causing bacteria. The second one is to strengthen already existing enamel and ensure healthy development at a young age. Fluoride therapy is completely painless, only takes a few minutes to provide, and ensures healthy protection well until your child’s next visit with us.

Athletic Mouthguards

We always encourage our young patients to be active, but that means they should be wearing the right protective gear along the way to avoid accidents with their smile. If you child plays sports where there’s a high risk for impact, we strongly recommend an athletic mouthguard for their smile. Not only are our custom-made oral appliances made with our digital impression technology designed to fit your child’s teeth exactly, but they far more comfortable than what you’ll find in sporting goods stores.

Lip & Tongue-Tie

In some cases, children may have an excess amount of tissue inside their mouth. This small piece of tissue is known as frenulum and attaches the upper and lower lip to the gums. It’s also present in the tongue and attaches it to the floor of the mouth. If the frenulum is oversized, it can make it difficult for your child to speak, chew, and breastfeed. With our dentist’s careful hand and gentle touch, we can reduce the size of this tissue in a matter of minutes.

Pulp Therapy

If your child’s tooth experiences severe decay and the interior area becomes damaged or infected, pulp therapy can work to restore and save their tooth. Whether your child is dealing with dental discomfort in their baby tooth or a permanent tooth, we perform pulp therapy with the specific purpose to get them out of pain as soon as possible and on a treatment plan that ensures a healthy smile moving forward.
