Understanding How Dental Insurance Works

Once you’ve paid the premiums and met the deductible, dental insurance will help cover the costs of certain services provided at our dental office. Some treatments receive higher coverage than others. That’s largely because dental insurance is designed to encourage you to seek preventive care in order to stop severe oral health issues from occurring at all. Thus, you’ll get the most out of your benefits if you keep up with your biannual preventive checkups.

What Your Dental Insurance Plan Covers

Each dental company is different, and they tend to offer various plans. If you’re unsure of what your benefits are, we can go over them with you so that you have a good idea of what’s covered and what’s not. Cleanings, checkups, X-rays, and other preventive services tend to receive the most coverage while major restorative services such as dental crowns only receive about 50 percent coverage or so. Cosmetic treatments usually aren’t covered unless they have an oral health benefit of some kind.

Having a dentist that is within your insurance’s network will help you save as much money as possible. We can still accept out-of-network providers, but the amount of coverage you receive will vary. Either way, our team will file the necessary claims for you and make sure your aware of all of your options for making the treatment affordable. You can call us to find out if we are currently in-network with your plan. Below is a list of some of the companies that we are currently in-network with:
